Tributes have flooded in for a pilot and a teenage German trade scholar who died in a helicopter crash in North Yorkshire on Monday.

Law enforcement verified Ian Macdonald, 66, died in the crash in the vicinity of his house in the village of Burton in Lonsdale shortly prior to midday on Monday.

The other passenger who died was 16-year-previous Admarsu Birhan, who locals reported experienced been living with a nearby loved ones for the previous three months.

Mr Macdonald’s heartbroken lover Julia Smith posted a photograph of him on social media.

Ms Smith’s mom Audrey wrote: “With excellent disappointment my daughter Julia’s spouse Ian has been killed in a helicopter accident on Monday June 20 – appreciate from all of us xx.”

Craven district councillor Stuart Handley, who lives in Burton in Lonsdale, said Mr Macdonald was very well-favored in the village. He stated: “My condolences go to the relatives of Ian Macdonald and also the German trade student’s relatives.
